The Escola Nacional de Seguros – Funenseg was founded in Brazil in 1971, with the mission of disseminating insurance education, knowledge and research, as well as promoting consumers’ understanding and professionals' continuing education in insurance.
This initiative has accomplished the Brazilian professionals' need for technical education in order to thrive in an increasingly competitive marketplace and has emphasized the importance of the insurance industry in the development of the national economy.
During the last 39 years, the Escola Nacional de Seguros has achieved its objectives by offering educational programs from basic levels to post-graduation degrees, supporting technical research, publishing a wide range of titles and other activities such as workshops and seminars. In this period, Funenseg has also exchanged experiences with other insurance institutions through mutual cooperation agreements inside and outside Brazil.
In 2005, the institution was accredited by the Brazilian government to offer the first course in the country on Insurance Administration at undergraduate level, reflecting its commitment to prepare leading professionals for an industry that has become much more complex in recent years.
The Escola Nacional de Seguros has its Head-Office in Rio de Janeiro. There are, in addition, fourteen Regional Offices, strategically located throughout the country, to conduct its activities and reinforce Funenseg’s position as “The School of Insurance in Brazil”.
